Re: Two interesting casesFrom: Bryan Jick, M.D. (drbryan@earthlink.net)Thu Aug 7 15:28:13 1997
The 10 minute tubal under local? Could this be the new microlaparoscopy that is being shoved down our throats by the entrepreneurial ob/gyn's out there? Lots of hype, lots of danger. Or..possible a mini-lap btl with spinal? Still, this would be more than 10 minutes? Regarding Women's International Pharmacy...you should request a packet of info from them. They are a national leader in the alternative pharmacy arena. They have a tremendous selection of estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, DHA, estriol, all in different doses, routes, and strengths. Plus their literature is incredibly self-serving, listing a myriad of conditions which can be treated with natural hormones. In my area, some pharmacies sell non-prescription forms of estrogen and progesterone creams. One is called Pre-gest. These are made from either mexican yam extract, or soybeans. They are hormonally active, but I do not know the dosage equivalency. I wonder who the patient will sue when she gets endometrial cancer from using non-prescription non-regulated hormonal cream? The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
