Privileges at more than one hospital. Was: Epidurals without attendingsFrom: AGrunebaum@aol.comTue Aug 5 13:32:47 1997
<<<<Dr Hill wrote: <<<Larger groups use a backup call system, but people in 1 or 2 person <<<groups just suck it up and drive like crazy between the 2 hospitals, hoping they can make it in time to do the deliveries. This system leads to a number of missed deliveries each year. My partners and I deliver many babies each year due to other Ob/Gyns at our institution covering multiple hospitals and not making it in time to do the delivery. This actually brings up another question: What are the ethical and moral issues when you have privileges for more than one hospital? Is the patient well served? Are you setting yourself up? Should this be allowed...............

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
