Unless you are in the military, in which case you cannot be sued for malpractice (only the U.S. Government can be sued), but you CAN GO TO PRISON for malpractice. The military can and does go after military physicians with court martail charges. (Seems to me that a thoracic surgeon was convicted in a court martail in the mid 1980's, but the conviction was overturned on appeal -- does anybody knwo anything about this?)

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
