Re: Birth Plans - a riotFrom: Barbara J. Loughlin CNM (rjps30a@prodigy.com)Wed Jun 25 22:15:08 1997

I thought it was great that both MD's and CNM's participated-each having something to learn from the other. Now it turns out that once again the physicians feel we are intruding on their turf (although this list is supposed to be for all health care professionals). Are we really that threatening to you? I have not seen any CNM's posting inappropiately here. We may not do things the exact way that you do but time and time again the statistics bear out that we give good, safe care and have excellent outcomes. What difference does it make when the cord is cut? I don't think that one way is any better than the other. We may have different styles of practice but I know I can learn from you and just maybe you could learn from midwives if you kept an open mind. Barb Loughlin CNM Utica NY

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
