Not So. It is quite easy to weigh 400+ pounders on an ordinary balance beam scale limited to 250lbs or 300lbs. The trick shown me many years ago by a clinic nurse is to:

1. weigh yourself on the scale.

2. tape a stethoscope onto the outside pointed end of the balance beam.

3. re weigh yourself. You will love the results. You will now weigh some 60 to 100 lbs less.

4. Without disturbing the taped stethoscope, weigh the patient.

5. Add the "weight of the stethoscope" to the patient's weight to accurately calculate the true patient's weight.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
