Why would anyone believe that intercourse introduces any pathogens and thus induces infections in a monogamous relationship? Any scientific evidence for that? And if you are concerned, you can use a condom. This thing about the 6 weeks nono for intercourse probably comes from a rather non-scientific, maybe even societal background. It has nevver been shown, to the best of my knowledge, that intercourse even on the day of birth increases the risk fo anything. Other than that it's probably a little uncomfortable. But if both partner like it, why not. And what about her having an orgasm, is that also forbidden for 6 weeks postpartum?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
