James-

I have not used misoprostil orally, but have given it routinely per vagina in cases of a second-trimester induction (i.e. fetal death in utero) where the placenta does not deliver within an hour after the fetus. In 7 of 9 cases with misoprostil the placenta delivered within 1-2 hours after 600 micrograms of misoprostil. (I would not use this high of a dose in term or close to term pregnancies). I was happy with the results. Your method warrants a controlled study, as I can see how it would be effective.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
