Re: ACOG-based computerized softwareFrom: douglas krell (douglas.krell@nsionline.com)Mon May 19 13:05:15 1997
Ken, There are 5 companies I know of that are building computer software systems for physicians. The largest of these is HBO&Co which is out of Atlanta. They have been on a buying and acquisition spree of software companies that can support their client base of 2800 hospitals. They are slowly consolidating their databases so that every product, financial, lab, pharmacy, and patient care software works together and can be integrated with physicians offices. HBO & Co. had revenues last year of nearly $800 million dollars. The CEO is named Charles McCall. Call him up and ask him what he thinks of your product. There are a few other large companies I've heard of...Shared Medical Systems, Medic Computer System, IDX System, and Cerner Corp. that are all trying to do the same things with a little twist. These are all publicly traded companies with track records of one kind or another. I bet one of them would be interested in hearing about the ACOG program. regards, Doug

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
