The question raised will likely be answered by eithe the Genetics and IVF institute or possible Ken Ward at U of Utah. Given its nonlethality in many circumstances preimplantation dx is not likely to be done; however for the couple who are unwilling to take any chance, it may be available like with Rh preimplantation testing.

For the inexperienced most Kell disease does not kill. It can be unpredictable; however with the use of peak systolic velocity determination from the MCA, a good noninvasive evaluation of what is occurring within the fetal vascular system.

Hope this helps. Robert J. Carpenter, Jr. MD St. Luke's Medical Tower,#2720 6624 Fannin,Houston,Tx 77030 zygote@icsi.net 713-795-4600 FAX:713-795-4422

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
