Allen:

According to Creasy and Resnik's Maternal Fetal Medicine, 3rd edition, "treatment consists of a loading dose of fresh frozen plasma of 10 ml/kg followed by a maintenance dose of 5 mg/kg/day. I also checked with a hematologist who concurred when I presented my patient with Factor XI deficiency to him. She had an uneventful labor (with an epidural) and delivery.

If you wish, I can fax or mail you the material--it is only 2 paragraphs; let me know by private email.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
