In my humble opinion if we only practice medicine under the impression of how it will look in court, then we are truly "laboring under a misconception" ( ?mixed metaphor) I realize that in the good ol' USA we are forever being second-guessed by those honorable officers of the court, but I would rather give up the practice of Medicine than practice defensive medicine to the detriment of my patient and my own self-esteem. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
