=============
I am a resident assisting in taking care of an infant who presented
at 2 mo with failure to thrive, vomiting and irritability. After much
investigation, we have come up with several aspects of his illness. He
has
abnormal d-xylose absorption (less tha 1/2 of normal), abnormal fat
absorption (heavy fecal fat), and, on EGD, flat intestinal villi and
significant blunting or absence of microvilli. He is currently being
maintained on hyperalimentation due to his poor absorptive ability.
I have searched on medline and found little to help me. If any of
you have any experience with any cases bearing any similarity to this
child's case, please write back.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
