> Dear Garry Mario- I suspect you are right. I have noted that almost all pregnant automobile accident "victims" contract like crazy after an accident, whether or not they were in a serious accident or a very minor "fender bender." Why should a patient contract when she was struck with minimal impact, did not hit her abdomen on the steering wheel or elsewhere, was wearing her seat belt correctly, and has absolutely no other injuries? I'll bet the stress and anxiety of the accident causes a massive rush of cortisol, epinephrine, etc and this leads to contractions. Ashley D. Ashley Hill, M.D. dahmd@gate.net Orlando, FL

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
