I would agree that a viable fetus should be monitored as continuously as possible. We recently had a 32 week patient who had a cholecystectomy. She was monitored continuously in Or, and then q shift on the perinatal unit postoperatively. I'm not sure we have a strict protocol.

I agree your 16 weeker did not need monitoring.
