I'm always afraid the same or something similar will happen here. Some will say it cannot happen, but we all know that all things are possible. I recently had a patient who related that an IUD had been placed after a spontaneous abortion without her knowledge while in Mexico. Being American, I was horrified. Especially considering how many hoops we in America must jump through to place an IUD. The flip side of this is that Central American women are much more IUD-friendly than North American women. This client agreed to another IUD placement after delivery. BTW, what is the earliest anyone would consider starting progestin-only or combination OC's after delivery. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
