Stress and Pregnancy

Does anyone have any comments about the effects, if any, of stress on pregnancy? Many patients at any time in their pregnancy complain of stres at home, work, etc., and ask if this negatively impacts their babies. I have always answered "no," and pointed out that no one can magically snap their fingers and make home, work, etc. less stressful.

I have not ever encountered anything that address this issue with any scientific authority. I realize that stress cannot be measured objectively, and can't be easily compared from one woman to another.

Garry Less stressed out now that the Bar Mitzvah is over and the merger papers got signed! :)

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
