Jason,

In the February 1997 Edition of the "Green Journal" there is an article of Low Pregravid BMI and Risk Factors for Preterm Birth (Obstet Gynecol 1997;89: 206-212).

I am a PGY-3 resident and am currently working on a department lecture on the subject of Pregravid BMI, poor weight gain, and pregnancy outcome. Most of the literature agrees with the above mentioned article and the BMI's are as follows:

very low < 16.5 low 16.5-19.7 normal 19.8-26.0 high >26.

If anyone is aware of any interesting journal articles on the subject of low maternal BMI or poor maternal weight gain, please let me know.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
