re : Maternal Floor InfarctionFrom: Arthur W. Curtis, Jr. (artcurtis@juno.com)Fri Mar 21 17:49:38 1997
A search shows this to be really nasty. Abstract of 4 references: (No others found) References sent to anyone who requests. Total patients = 61 (total pregnancies = 73) IUGR = 31/48 (64.6%) Stillbirths = 32/73 (43.8%) Preterm = 21/36 (58.3%) Not really an infarction, but a deposition of pregnancy-associated major protein (a potent cytotoxin) in close proximity to chorionic villae which become avascular and sclerotic. The protein is limited to placental X cells which are seen to proliferate. -- ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Arthur Curtis, MD FACOG Worcester, MA ArtCurtis@Juno.com ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
