Re: ?? vaginitisFrom: Garry E. Siegel, M.D. (garrys@mindspring.com)Thu Mar 6 17:36:09 1997
>Bernard Cristalli MD CNGOF >Paris - France >http://www.obgyn.net/corresp/cristalli.htm Dear Bernard: Have you done a *culture* for yeast? Also, what is the vaginal pH? These may be helpful. I have been pleasingly surprised at how some "unexplained vaginitides" (is that right, ya'll?)have been culture proven candida, and responded to simple therapy. You might also consider culturing and treating empirically for yeast with an oral agent such as Diflucan 150 mg. weekly for 2 to 6 weeks, or a 2 week course of Nizoral (ketoconzaole) 100 mg. daily.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
