Abnormal Triple Screen & AFPFrom: Dr. Michael Hunter (mike@sccsi.com)Mon Mar 3 16:24:28 1997
Have a patient with intrauterine fetal demise at 16-17 weeks gestation. She had an abnormal Trisomy screen and an elevated AFP and was sent for evaluation with level II ultrasound and amniocentesis. A normal karyotype was noted and a normal ultrasound except for a low amniotic fluid volume. One week later the patient presented with no fetal heart motion and had a prostaglandin induction. The path report of the fetus and placenta was normal. My question is there any reports or studies concerning the outcome of patients with abnormal trisomy screen and elevated AFP? The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
