Managed Care Denial

Recently, denials for benefits covering services of surgical assistants in c/s's, LAVH and laparoscopic surgery have been issued on claims submitted to Blue Choice of Georgia, a HMO. The basis of the denials is the claim by Blue Choice that their consultants, Millikin & Roberson, have issued the opinion that surgical assistance is not required for these procedures.

This is nuclear meltdown. Experience with denial of benefits for surgical assistance in these procedures in other locales is solicited.

Frontal assault is in assembly stage.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
