What I tell patients about sexuality is that 90% of libido after menopause and about 80% prior to that time is between their ears and not in their genitals. Therefore, it's worthwhile to focus their energy in the area that's going to give them the greatest return.

Whether it's a night on the town, a romantic movie, or new bedroom attire, I ask patients to make sure that those areas are given dramatic attention before they begin to worry about fooling around with their hormones. The sense of smell for example is tied directly into the limbic system and the autonomic nervous system. Olfactory stimulation is a powerful enhancement to sexuality.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
