I am a gynecologist in private practice in a community hosptal. During the last three years I have performed over 100 laparoscopic Burches. The first were with mesh as described above. I then swtiched to regular suturing (extra-corporeal, #1 ethibond) with the same method I used as with my open Burches. My success rate(only three years) is the same as with the open method, about 90%.

At the AAGL meeting in Chicago this year almost all of the papers on outcome of the laparoscopic Burch reported the same.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
