It is a variant of LAW XIII of The House of God--The delivery of medical care is to do as much nothing as possible. But for practical purposes, I perform a laparoscopic tubal sterilization prior to all endometrial ablations. I usually perform the tubal first although for a time I would put the laparoscope in, perform the ablation while watching the uterine fundus on a second monitor. This was merely for the sake of curiosity and also to measure how much irrigant would flow through the fallopian tubes and wind up in the pelvis. Most of the time it was negligable. But my standard procedure today is to perform the LTS, remove all the equipment from above, suture the incisions and perform the ablation from below.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
