Ob/Gyn CompensationFrom: Geffrey H. Klein, MD (gklein@bcm.tmc.edu)Wed Jan 29 20:19:57 1997
Question for the US physicians... I am in renegotiation for a contract with my employer for next year. My initial contract was based on an income guarantee and will be dramatically different next year. I would like to get an impression of the job market for comparison. I am aware that this is a regional issue with confounding factors such as practice structure, location, patient load, managed care climate, and gender. However, it would help to know what is "fair market value" for a salaried ob-gyn physician. How are the compensation packages structured (ie base salaries, incentives, etc) and what other considerations are important (insurance, vacations, professional memberships, licensure, etc..) Feel free to privately e-mail me if you don't feel comfortable discussing it in an open forum. Thanks for your help in advance....

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
