As a pretty well trained laparoscopist I think the problem is not the operation it self but its indications.

In my opinion laparoscopic myomectomy is a funny-to-perform-operation but not really useful. What is the use of removing little myomas? As for the big myomas, they can't be removed through laparoscopy. They can't be removed safely to leave a functional uterus if they are in the myometrium & if they are subserous the operation is more risky than useful.

So if you think a myoma is responsible for an infertility do a *laparotomy* for an interstitial or an hysteroscopy for a sub-mucosal. But except for fun or for sport don't use this technique IMHO.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
