Re: 'signs of infection'From: rbraun@indyunix.iupui.eduFri Jan 10 22:12:40 1997
OOOps I left off uterine tenderness. The other causes of fever (epidural and labor) mentioned by Mats don't apply in the patient with PPROM , because if she has labor she has signs of infection and we don't put epidurals in unless they are in labor. I used to get CRP's daily on all of these patients with PPROM. If there was some other sign of infection and the CRP was positive it was helpful but if it was the only sign of infection that we had, it was almost always a false positive. IOW, it seemed helpful, confirming another positive test, but that was all.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
