Dear Listmembers,

I am looking for information, especially references, regarding the effects of altitude in pregnancy. Specifically ,if a patient is living at sea level, what is an unsafe altitude and why. This question relates to a patient who asked about flying in a small unpressurized airplane. I know there is some information regarding the effects of altitude on pregnancy but I can't seem to put my hands on it.

thanks, Elliot Greenberg MD Baystate Medical Center Springfield, MA

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
