Re: Group B Strep infectionFrom: Krat8m@aol.comTue Dec 31 13:24:39 1996
May 1996 CDC bulletin gave 2 choices for management of Group B Strep surveillance. One for prenatal cultures and risk factors and one without the cultures. Both are felt to be acceptable. Also included was recommended management of the infant at risk. I am chairman of the OB department and I presented the CDC info to Peds and FP as well as to my own department. We developed a risk sheet that is part of the chart to identify the patients with prenatal risk or intrapartum development of risk and one copy goes to the nursery with the baby. As soon as a patient is determined to be at risk (by history or fever or gestational age or whatever) the ped is notified. M Kratoska Omaha

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
