Sounds like you have an opportunity to study the issue. Why don't you get some his seminal fluid and have it tested? Sounds publishable to me.... and important to know. It would not be a large pop study, but if the drugs show up, people should know about it. Particularly the oncologists and others who prescribe them. Peace, Terry J. Date: Monday, December 30, 1996 9:57PM I have a pregnant patient whose husband was just diagnosed with prostatitis. She asked me if there were any precautions regarding intercourse. I figured he might be placed on doxycycline, and therefore I wondered about the potential exposure of the patient and the fetus to doxycycliine from an ejaculation. Presumably any drug used to treat prostatitis will show up in high concentration in seminal fluid. Therefore I warned her to use condoms for intercourse due to a possible exposure to doxycycline. My next thought...what if the spouse were on a highly teratogenic agent such as Accutane, Lithium, Methotrexate, etc.? Do we need to worry about potential teratogenic exposures from unprotected intercourse early in pregnancy? Are there any studies that list members might be aware of in this regards?
