Please do not confuse the following with bragging. I practice in the malpractice capital of the world ... Nassau County on Long Island in the litiginous state of NY. This, along with the whole thread on videotaping in the DR and the legal ramifications has given me the New Year's creeps. Is it not appropriate to do what is medically right and expedient for the patient? I mean to be neither naive not ignorant of what is around us, but doesn't it just seem as though we have, on occasion, forgotten the patient and the medical basis for our actions? That being said, I'm against videotaping and my main hospital affiliation doesn't even allow it. They say it's to not invade the privacy of others that may be inadvertently included in the taping. Call me suspicious, but I wonder if it doesn't have just a little bit to do with malpractice. <<For those of you who could possibly have missed it, I borrowed some of Mark Decker's well utilized sarcasm>>. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
