Debra, Hope you don't mind my answering your question (I'm not a doctor either!). I have genital herpes, too, much the same as you describe. I had several outbreaks during my most recent pregnancy (I didn't have herpes the first time around).

Unless you have an *outbreak* during labor, herpes does not affect your pregnancy or your baby. Try and stay low stress, and take lysine as you get close to your date. Know that if you do have an outbreak during labor you must have a c-section, since contact with lesions can be fatal for the baby.

I'll be interested to see what the doctors tell you.
