I agree with Dr. Woolley. When we get so paranoid that we make medical decisions based on what the American Trial Lawyers Assn. says or what we think "lawyers might do", it is time to hang up the stethoscope and "go fishing". As an aside, when we make political decisions (i.e. send money to candidates and vote), keep in mind which politicians want to reign in the legal process. Politicians who embark on this are few and far between - the trial lawyers usually target them for defeat in the next election. We are strong enough, collectively, to keep them in office. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
