I had a very similar patient to the one described by Malcolm Griffiths. Was apparently disease free, developed hypercalcemic coma and pancreatitis from liver mets.We deliverd the baby @ 26 weeks - it survived and she went on to survive another 16 months. Based on my experience may I suggest the following: 1) Get a consultaion with a medical oncologist. They know all the latest tumor markers for breast cancer ( ?Ca-20, ?CEA ) which may be helpful in detecting occult metastatic disease. 2) Do a liver ultrasound to rule out liver mets & liver function tests - an elevated LDH is particularly indicative of hepatic mets.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
