You have another option which is not as expensive as bone densitometry. I am talking about osteosonography. This technique is well correlated with the bone densitometry findings. With this machine (not ionizing radiations you can do serial measurements (i.e. every six months, in women whos measurements has been found to be abnormal previously and who are on current treatment (alendronate, HTS )) with the objective of evaluation of the bone mass. The machine I currently use is the DBM Sonic 1200 and you can found more information in http://www.studios.it/igea

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
