cervical cerclage: replyFrom: A.P. VAN DER COLF (rvdcolf@iwwn.com.na)Thu Nov 28 04:35:06 1996
thank you very much for all the intersting replies. it seems that the patient with partial bicornuate uterus needs a cerclage. interesting stats that i came across: 30% of patients with bicornuate uteri presented with cx incompetence in pregnancy (A GOLAN: INT J FERT 92). a few more questions: 1. shirodkar or mcdonald stitch? does the patient's cx length make any difference (shorter cx or previous stitch - rather shirodkar). 2. type of material used? prolene or mersilene 3. place of prohylactic tocolytics ( indomethacin, slow releasing Mg++) 4. antibiotics ( routine or only with +cx culture) thanks riaan vd colf HOD: O&G, WINDHOEK, NAMIBIA PRIV. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
