Re: Delivery of the impacted headFrom: DoctorJoe@aol.comWed Nov 27 14:39:56 1996
<<When disimpaction is a problem and the head is way down the vagina, one of our Ob's has on several recent occasions reached up to the fundus and delivered the breech, then lifted the head out from the pelvis.>> I've had more success with this maneuver than trying to push the head up or elevate it with a forcep. I like it... and even with a transverse incision, I've had good luck. Joe P. P.S. Be careful, though. If the head is really stuck, there is a suction that needs to be broken. So don't pull on the poor kid too hard and hurt his neck...

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
