Re: Posterior uterine defects at C/SFrom: Betsy Hyde (elishyde@connix.com)Mon Nov 18 16:12:50 1996
While not exactly a posterior lower segment defect noted at C/S, we once had a young primip s/p cone who had lots of prodromal labor at 35+ weeks. Because she was preterm, we sent her home. The next day she came back to the hospital with a posterior sacculation of the lower segment. Baby was OP, posterior segment was paper thin and head was at +3 with cervix way up under the cervix. My attending was convinced she was fully...I was convinced that she was closed. Speculum exam demonstrated uterine wall ahead of the vtx. She had a stat c/s with no defects, but probably close to posterior segment rupture.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
