Kiellands Forceps were popularised in the UK and Ireland after publication of a monograph on their use by E Parry Jones of Liverpool, and later North Wales. People often forget they were used in patients under GA, and a lot of traumatic deliveries were reported, and also severely damaged babies. He later advocated a forceps called Barton's Forceps, designed, I think by an American Engineer turned Gynaecologist called Barton. These had an almost right angled curve of the posterior blade, and a hinged anterior blade, and were used with a traction rod. Regards,

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
