Fetal Scalp Sample - Cephalo HematomaFrom: Arthur W. Curtis, Jr. (artcurtis@juno.com)Wed Nov 13 17:06:28 1996
Our use of fetal scalp ph has greatly declined. Over the past years I have had 2 serious (1 very serious) cephalo hematomas after a single scalp blood sample with a vacuum delivery. Glad to hear most of the list does not use scalp bloods much any more, because I think they are not without some risk, as well as without much benefit.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
