I have a 24 y/o G3P1011 at nearly 20 wks gestation who came in today having previously been seen by providers in another state - just moved here recently. For the last month, she has had a scanty amt of red vag discharge. Minimal to no cramping, active baby, feeling fine otherwise. Had chlamydia in early preg and was treated, no TOC until we did one today. Previous U/S not available, but woman states "they said everything looked OK". Under lots of stress as is divorcing husband. No DAT use.

PE shows FH at umbilicus, FHT at 140-150, cx bluish, clean and no friability, wet prep and koh neg for clue cells, yeast. Chlam. cult, GC cult done with results pending. After cleaning bloody mucus out of vagina, watched a tiny ooze of pink from the tightly closed os.

Am sending for another U/S this PM. If it shows no previa or abruption, which I suspect it won't, what do you suppose the etiology of the bleeding might be??

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
