Re: No more "chem 13"From: Betsy Hyde (elishyde@connix.com)Tue Nov 5 18:13:56 1996

That is to say, no chem 13, no TFTs, no LFTs, >etc. > >What an incredible PITA, especially considering that these batteries >are all run on standardized panel machines anyway - this will not save >anyone money except by refusing to pay for labs when someone forgets >and orders the panel.... > >Damn government. May I also include the insurance companies in this..... the HMOs all have their preferred labs, and each lab has a different culture collection method. Now we are getting lists of medications which will be covered...for OCs some HMOs/PPOs want only Ortho products....but then again, some want Wyeth. Some require that we rx OCs weakly associated with increased risk of dvt. Will they cover me if I have to rx this and an otherwise healthy woman gets a dvt/pe? Some insurers will only cover certain antibiotics. Some HMOs will not cover gyn ultrasounds in the office. some require that we precertify for every ultrasound, some only for high risk, some for the second. And *NONE* of them will pay their bills on time! Our ARs are in the stratosphere.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
