Yes, it is for real and St. John's Wort it is the most common perscribe anti-depressant in Germany. It has been well studied head-to-head with many other anti-depressants and works just as well with fewer side effects. I have patients sent to me the weekly to switch them from Prozac/Zoloft to something that doesn't make them feel so wiped out. Hypericum is the active chemical and is typically found in .15% but for therapeutic effects use .3%. These are found in health food stores and some grocery stores in this area. We also carry it in our pharmacy. Dr. Larry Kincheloe (Kinch) lkinchel@ icnet.net

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
