Re: Female infibulationFrom: J J Walker (msjjjw@gps.leeds.ac.uk)Sun Oct 27 14:19:28 1996
1) do I do the surgery early in pregnacy and let it heal before delivery No there is no need. She will not come to harm until delivery. 2) put in an epidural or some other from of anesthesia and do it all at time of delivery. Yes, there may be no need to give an epidural although this is kinder. A local infiltration may be all that is required. I ahve delivered quite a few like this. The real question is do you repair it after? In the UK we are told not to although I have. It may be an oportunity to remove it for good but paitnes wishes must come into it. Most are presurised by their partner. Jimmy Professor James Walker, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, St James University Hospital Beckett Street, LS9. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
