Re: Chicken Pox exposure 1st trimesterFrom: DOCMA@aol.comThu Oct 24 21:37:08 1996
Seems that I remember hearing from one of those CME ACOG audio tapes that VZIG will not prevent the infection in the non-immune, exposed patient, but it does attenuate the infection and prevents vertical transmission. No numbers were mentioned, but fetal varicella syndrome is apparently rare if the VZIG is given within 96 hours of exposure. Sorry about the lack of specificity! William D. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
