After being on the hospital staff for one year, I asked the cheif of the section if he would consider allowing me to participate in the QA process. The perinatal guidelines suggests that the Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (which I am in title) basically be in charge of the process. I have only asked to participate. I was met with not only a "no", but rather a "hell no". My question is, what are the policies in the various hospitals of those on the list regarding participation in the QA process. In addition, if an individual has fellowship training in an area, should he not at least be asked to provide input to the process? I would appreciate opinions from everybody. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
