>I have a patient, and many more that I can think of... who report Doug- I also encounter a few patients a year with this complaint, and the workup you described is also negative. One of my Family Practice colleagues suggested that I ask the patients if their partners have a lot of hair on the shaft of the penis. My first thought was "yeah, right" but, sure enough, the patients reported that there *is* a lot of penile hair. Perhaps the hair is causing fine, linear lacerations that burn. I switched them to K-Y type lubricant (it's thick and water soluble) rather than lotion or other lubricants, and that seemed to solve the problem in my admittedly small "series" of patients. I suppose the husband could consider shaving the penis, but I sincerely doubt that most men (myself included) would be comfortable with sharp objects coming too close to "Mr.Happy"! Good luck. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
