Ric, Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is the rapid IV push administration of oxytocin which is associated with hypotension. I've never seen a significant reaction when it is mixed with fluids to be infused, or given IM. Whether it should be given "routinely" to assist a normal physiologic process is another issue, however.
