Who would bear the extra cost of collection, freezing, storage, maintenance of the specimen HLA database? An ob/gyn colleague of mine recently had a baby and shelled out in the range of $1200 for the storage of their newborn's stem cells from her cord blood. Does anyone have any data on what happens if a pt with a hematopoietic malignancy gets their own marrow precursors back? The collection part is a no-brainer. What do the heme-onc folks say about this? Does A.C.O.G. have a position/committee opinion? Hugo

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
