"...because they would drink my blood"From: Geffrey H. Klein, MD (gklein@bcm.tmc.edu)Sat Oct 5 20:16:58 1996
Hi all.. Interesting case... 33 y/o G4P2A1 at 18 weeks first visit the other day... I got the impression that she was a little eccentric while talking to her, however, at the conclusion of the interview I told her she would have to get some blood drawn.. She refused "because they would drink my blood" This of course send a red flag.. (although I should have probably checked with the lab first) She was obviously delusional after further questioning. She is currently on no medication and has in the past had 2 children taken by child protective services. She refuses psych eval as part of her delusional suspicion. She was not an apparent threat to herself or others. Question: What is my obligation if she will not seek psych care?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
